Children's Rooms
GreythornECC has three separate children's rooms -
10 children (age 6 weeks to approximately 2 years old) with 2 carers
10 children (age approximately 2 years to 3 years old) with 2 carers
20 children (age approximately 3 years to 5+ years old) with 2 carers
The transition to the next Room is dependent on the developmental progress of the child and, of course, an available vacancy.
All permanent staff employed at GreythornECC have a minium qualification of Level 2, with all team leaders having a qualification at Level 3 (fully qualified). This means that all staff interacting with the children have formalised training in childcare.
The centre has a policy of rotating staff through different rooms each year. This compliments the staff's formal qualifications by ensuring that they have experience interacting with children of all ages. It also benefits those children who are transitioning to the next Room by having a familiar carer.
In addition, GreythornECC limits the use of agency staff, preferring to maintain a pool of reliable relief staff who are available at short notice. This pool of staff also has a minimum qualification of Level 2, with the majority being qualified at Level 3.
